Ok, the online dating thing is sort of working for a friend of mine so I figured I’d give this a real shot this time (Last time was my cousin putting up a profile for me in hopes of getting rid of my boyfriend at the time…I did meet some very cool people and make some cool friends – but it just wasn’t for me at the time). I’m just looking to make some new guy friends that a.) don’t know my exs b.) don’t know my brother and c.) aren’t interested in dating my friends.
Now, I’m not saying mine is perfect or that there isn’t room for improvement, but I thought I’d be helpful and give everyone a few examples of what NOT to do or say. I’ve pointed out the faux pas in each one for you just you’re not sure. If you see something else, please let me know…
Hi, my name is Cute~Ella and while I do not always spell things 100% accurately or always use proper punctuation, I try very hard in that first message to at least use whole words or appropriate abbreviations.
Remember people, this is the first time they are hearing from you or seeing you. This message above is a huge turn off.
Here’s the thing - I didn’t actually message him. I have no idea what he’s talking about. Also, punctuation and use of a spell check would have been helpful. Even I can spell “response” and I can’t spell at all.

Again with the spell check. Sheesh. Also the profile above clearly indicates that she would like a sugar daddy. At least she’s honest about not wanting to work…Oh I didn’t post her other pictures, but they are a little scary.
UPDATED 01/10/07: A friend of mine indicates that he believes she is involved in one of those Russian Scams. Like mail order bride. That would explain why she doesn’t want to work…she can’t get a VISA!
Below we have Lauren who is wearing some sort of large bird on her shirt. Many of them. While I think she’s trying to look sexy, to me, it looks like she’s having some sort of seizure or a tick. I do like that she’s very direct and says that she won’t even consider you if you don’t have a picture. Lets be honest – looks are obviously EVERYTHING.
I didn’t post the other two that he sent to me. One was actually sort of threatening in the “if you cheat on me, bad bad things will happen” the other basically was about how she “wanted someone to go on a real date with but keep things casual”. There was comments about being close etc…he and I figured she wanted someone to just take her to dinner etc before they bumped uglies.
